You must first obtain your license from the Delaware Real Estate Commission. After you receive your license, you need to fill out the SCAOR® membership application and the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) application. If you plan to serve as either a licensed assistant or a rental agent and will not be selling real estate in Sussex County, you must fill out the MLS waiver form. This exempts you from joining the MLS and paying the quarterly MLS fees.
Can I join the MLS if I do not have a Delaware real estate license?
No, you must have a Delaware license to join the Sussex County Association of REALTORS® MLS system. In order to join the MLS, your broker must be licensed; every Delaware licensee must also join the MLS. If you meet these requirements, you may fill out the office application – if you are joining as a new office – as well as the MLS application form.
How do I join the MLS if I have a Delaware real estate license?
If your office is already a member of the MLS, you will need to fill out the MLS application form and submit MLS fees on a prorated basis. If your office is not yet a member, someone will need to fill out an application and ensure that every Delaware licensee in the office submits the MLS application form along with the required payment.
How do I get my license?
There are several steps to obtaining your real estate license in Delaware. First, you must complete a 99 hour pre-licensing course accredited by the Delaware Real Estate Commission. You must also pass a two-part standardized licensing examination administered by a professional testing service. Then you must submit an application to the Delaware Real Estate Commission within one year of completion of the pre-licensing course and pay all appropriate fees. Lastly, the applicant needs to submit an affidavit stating he/she has not engaged in any acts or offenses that would be grounds for discipline.
What education courses do you have coming up?
The Sussex County Association of REALTORS® offers many continuing education courses throughout the year at its beautiful new facility just outside the county seat of Georgetown. Please visit www.scaor.com frequently to view a list of upcoming classes.
What is an affiliate member?
Affiliate members are individuals who are in a profession with interests in real estate-related information. Examples of affiliate members include builders, mortgage company officials, title company representatives and home inspectors. Affiliate members are not members of the Multiple Listing Service.
How do I become an affiliate member?
Fill out the affiliate membership application form and mail or fax it to the SCAOR® office along with appropriate payment. Memberships range from individual gold to corporate platinum with fees ranging from $350 to $1,500 annually.
